At close to 2 months, the baby's hearing and eyesight senses are almost optimal and the baby can even see objects far away. The baby is now trying to understand the objects that he/she sees or hears. It does so by evaluating if it is a familiar sound or sight. Off and on, certain objects or actions may be humorous to the baby as he/she also tries to interprete what makes daddy/mummy smile or laugh. So, when you capture the baby's crying or laughing using a camera or video camera and play it back for your baby, it will stir up lots of curiosity. I first learnt this tip from a Japanese TV show sharing parents' tips to other parents. The Japanese parent taped her baby's crying using a phone and played it back and claimed that it would stop the baby from crying everytime it is played. It worked for Haruka too, but only for a short while.
I used a digital camera with a short video camera function and captured Haruka crying or making baby talk. Then when Haruka cried, I played the video slot and she could see her face on the camera and also hear her own voice. She stopped at first and looked at it. Then, it somehow irritated her since she still did not get what she wanted initially. Also, maybe the voice and face seen in the camera either made her jealous or frightened and stirred her to cry more. So, it did not work. Just for the first few seconds the recording was played, she did stop crying for a brief moment. But, who knows if it may work for your baby. Try it out.
