Tip 23: Sneeze...sneeze...(followed by laughter)

Nope, I am feeling well and so is baby Haruka. But, I realised after month 1 onwards, Haruka begins to develop her sense of humor. One day, she sneezed and I thought I would repeat after her. She smiled in response. I mimicked the sneezing expression again and she smiled wider if not laughed. This continued other days where she would express her smiles and laughter more obviously after hearing mummy and me laugh when we watch the TV. Haruka is learning to laugh!

I am amazed at how babies learn. They have such curiosity to learn the moment they looked curiously around the surgery room when coming out of mummy's womb. Trully, its like a sponge ever so willing to absorb as much from its environment. Hence, its so important for daddy and mummy to be providing a good environment as far as possible for this sponge to absorb the good things in life. Later, as this sponge slows down to question the need to absorb, then the child can begin to slowly think whether the situation is right or wrong to learn from. But, I think as parents, we have a role to initially guide the baby and child at the right direction, even by placing the baby at the right environment where the environmental stimuli is best for learning. Its hard to play God as we ourselves are imperfect parents. Hence, parenthood teaches us so much about being responsible guardians of this world we live in.

Talking about sneezing and sickness, I think mummy's breastfed milk is doing lots of good to Haruka's immune system as Haruka has not gotten sick since birth. Often times, during winter and spring, Haruka's body would be cold but she does not show signs of feeling cold. I wonder if other newborn babies shiver when they are cold. At least, I have not seen Haruka shivering. But please comment if you have seen your baby shivering. Or maybe daddy needs to teach the baby how to shiver. Back to my previous post on teaching the baby how to respond to the basic necessities in life. In this case, the necessity for warmth and shelter. It would be funny to see Haruka shiver and I mimic her and see her laugh.
